I wanted the score to take the audience back into the era where the story was set. The 80’s was an age for major progress in politics and technology which is a key focus in the film. The music shows obvious 80’s influences throughout, which was such a delight for me personally as I consider it the golden age of music.
I couldn’t have achieved this sound without enlisting the help of 80’s music legends; Phil Harding (Kylie Minogue, Rick Astley, Depeche Mode, East 17 and Erasure), Stephen Lipson (Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Propaganda, Pet Shop Boys), Roger Bolton (Peter Gabriel, Malcolm McLaren), J. J. Jeczalik (The Art of Noise).
I also got the opportunity to experiment with the Fairlight CMI III on this score which is a childhood friend of mine. It was utterly nostalgic and will most certainly be appreciated by all the film music buffs out there.
