We were lucky enough to record with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales on this score. Not only were we able to work with some of the finest musicians in the UK, but the show has strong roots in Wales, and maintaining that connection through the music felt special. Their performances brought a distinct emotional weight to the score, carrying the spirit of the coastline, the folklore, and the relationship between the people and the sea.
Creating the score for The War Between Land and Sea felt like composing at the boundary of two worlds—where the modern day meets the ancient sea. I wanted to draw the audience into a journey of mystery, wonder, and conflict, and I hope every note echoes humanity’s struggle to find balance with forces beyond their understanding.
